Summer Adventure 2018

There is only one word to describe YWAM Saint Lucia's 2018 Summer Outreach...AWESOME! Ministry took place from July 27th to August 12th with 15 participants, and a team of 11 persons traveling to Guadeloupe. The first week of outreach took place in Saint Lucia and encompassed teachings on Evangelism: what constituted hard, thorny or good ground for witnessing, as well as strategies to witness to persons found within those categories. Students also had the opportunity to develop their own personal testimony in preparation for evangelism. The group enjoyed times of worship and intercession and also shared on key components of a godly character, as well as the Father heart of God. This was followed by various ministry activities in the form of prayer with the Saint Lucian citizenry in Central Castries, distribution of food to the homeless, drama, testimony and encouragement to those housed in homeless shelters, and praise and worship, prayer and encouragement for the elderly at the Marian Home.

The second phase of the outreach was held in Guadeloupe, where students had the opportunity to engage in planned ministry in Pointe-a-Pitre, as well as practice lifestyle evangelism as they toured the Memorial Acte Zoo Humaine. Students also encouraged and spoke with fellow tourists and locals at the beach and Cascade aux Ecrevisses (Crayfish Waterfall) and prayed for a young woman who owned a small paddle board business. Small groups dispersed along the streets of Pointe-a-Pitre to pray and witness to business persons, high school students on vacation, young professionals, as well as the elderly, sharing the love of God and His plan of redemption. The Saint Lucian team also had the opportunity to engage in a prayer walk along a street notorious for prostitution in Pointe-a- Pitre, believing for a turn around in the social and economic fabric of that community.

YWAM Saint Lucia was blessed with the warm and generous reception of YWAM Guadeloupe who provided a wonderful cultural exchange- praising and worshiping Jesus and fellowshipping in French, Creole and English, as well as exploring French culture through food.  ‘Qu'il est agréable, qu'il est doux pour des frères de demeurer ensemble’- Psaume 133 :1. C'était un moment merveilleux !

summer 2013

summer 2013

In summer 2012 we from YWAM St. Lucia ran our first summer program. This year (2013) young people had the same chance again and we even had people from overseas to join us for this program which lasted from July 28th until August 11th.
All in all we were thirteen people, four of which were leaders and staff. Among the participants we had six St. Lucians, two Germans and one Swiss. Ages among the participants reached from 11 to 29 years.
During the first week foundations in the faith and for life in a community were laid. The participants had time to get to know each other and learn things that help them in their relationship with God, such as how to read the bible, how to have quiet time and more. We also had fun times where we played basket ball, went to the beach and made excursions on the island.
After having laid some important foundations, in the second week we became more practical and stepped outside to bless people and talk to them about God. For example did we practice songs and a drama which we performed at the homeless shelter, the elderly home and the orphanage in Castries. We also talked to those people and tried to find out more about their lives. Eventually, we would also ask them about their relationship with Jesus and encourage them to seek God who cares about them and loves them. Of course we also had fun times in the second week.;)

Some of the highlights we had:

-          Two participants gave their life to Christ
-          People at the homeless shelter were encouraged and one gave her life to Christ
-          Two amazing nights at the International Youth Prophetic Convention
-          Pancakes for breakfast
-          Friendships developed and deepened

The participants generally experienced the program positively and were encouraged to go forth in their walk with the Lord. Those who already participated the year before agreed that this year was even better.
