September 2026 Update
Dear family and friends,
“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.”
— Philippians 1:3–5
It is hard to believe how quickly the months have gone by. As we look back over the past few months, we are grateful for a season that has included ministry, outreach, discipleship, family time, travel, and also an opportunity to step back and reassess.
As always, we are thankful to have friends, family, churches, and supporters journeying with us. Your prayers, encouragement, and practical support continue to make it possible for us to serve children, young people, families, and communities in Saint Lucia.
Here is a glimpse of what has been happening.
Family
Asaph completed his school year and has now begun Grade 10 at Abeka as the new school year gets underway. We are thankful for God’s faithfulness and guidance in his life as he continues to grow and learn.
Our family has also recently returned from a full month away. Some friends invited Asaph to attend a Christian camp in Canada (Mini Yo We) and made it possible for us to travel to Toronto so that we could be nearby during his time there. On our way back to Saint Lucia, we also stopped in Illinois to visit other friends. Asaph enjoyed the camp and is now talking of raising funds to attend it again next summer.
We are especially grateful for how God orchestrated this time away. Beyond the travel and visits, it gave us an opportunity as a family to rest, reconnect, and reassess before returning to the ministry. The month away was not simply a vacation; it was a providential time of family rest and reconnection.
We are grateful for the friends who made this possible and for the many ways God continues to provide opportunities for us to be refreshed and strengthened for the work He has entrusted to us.
MINISTRIES
Inductive Bible Study
We recently wrapped up this quarter’s Inductive Bible Study on the book of Hebrews. It serves as a powerful reminder to look past outward symbols and shadows so we can truly understand the reality they point to.
Studying Scripture inductively gives us the opportunity to slow down, observe the biblical text carefully, understand its context and meaning, identify the principles God is teaching us, and consider how those principles should be applied to our lives.
We are thankful for everyone who is participating online and for the opportunity to grow together through God's Word.
As we complete one book, we look forward to continuing this journey of studying Scripture together in the book of Revelation and encouraging one another to become people who not only know God's Word but also live it out.
Summer Mission Adventure 2026
One of the major highlights of this quarter was our Summer Mission Adventure, held from July 25th to August 3rd.
This year's program brought together 18 young people between the ages of 13 and 20, along with 8 volunteers representing at least four nationalities.
The Summer Mission Adventure is designed to give young people an opportunity to experience missions in a practical way while also receiving basic discipleship instruction. Our desire is not simply to organize a summer camp, but to help young people discover that following Jesus includes loving God, serving others, sharing the Gospel, and becoming available for God's purposes.
Learning through Mission
During the program, participants had opportunities to serve in a variety of settings. They:
- participated in community service;
- visited elderly people;
- helped provide food for people experiencing homelessness;
- participated in a prayer station;
- visited the juvenile centre;
- took part in evangelism and sharing the Gospel;
- received basic discipleship teaching;
- spent time praying and learning together; and
- enjoyed fellowship and recreation while exploring different parts of Saint Lucia.
One of the things we appreciated most was seeing the participants move from simply receiving to actively serving. The program gave them opportunities to encounter people from different backgrounds and to think about what it means to demonstrate the love of Christ in practical ways.
Of course, there was also plenty of fun. Exploring the island, spending time together, and building friendships were important parts of the experience. We believe that these relationships and shared experiences are also an important part of discipleship.
A Practical Challenge
One of our biggest practical challenges was the location.
Because the Summer Mission Adventure was operated from a rented facility, considerable preparation was required before the participants arrived. Once the program was finished, we also had to unpack, clean, and return the facility to its original condition.
We are particularly grateful to the church that generously allowed us to use one of its buildings for the program. Their willingness to make the facility available significantly contributed to making the Summer Mission Adventure possible.
This experience also reminded us of one of the practical challenges we face as a ministry: having a suitable, permanent place where we can regularly host children, young people, volunteers, training programs, and outreach activities would greatly strengthen what we are able to do.
Kid's Club
Since June, our Kids Club has continued to provide a regular opportunity to invest in children through relationships, recreation, discipleship, character development, and creative activities.
The regular rhythm of Kids Club was interrupted at different points by the preparation and running of the Summer Mission Adventure, as well as by our family's month away from Saint Lucia. Nevertheless, we are thankful that the ministry continues and that we have the opportunity to build relationships with the children over time.
For us, Kids Club is not simply about organizing activities for children. It is about creating a consistent environment where children can feel welcomed, build healthy relationships, discover their identity and value, develop character, and be introduced to the truth of God's Word.
We are grateful for every volunteer who contributes time and energy to this ministry and for the families who continue to entrust their children to us.
Youth and School Ministry
With the end of the school year in June, our School Ministry was temporarily paused during the school break. As the new school year began in September, the ministry has now resumed.
We are thankful for the opportunity to return to the schools and continue building relationships with students and those involved in the school communities. School Ministry gives us an ongoing opportunity to engage with children and young people where they spend much of their time, while supporting their development and creating opportunities to share God's love and biblical values.
As the new school year begins, we are praying for the students, teachers, and school communities we will be serving. We are also looking forward to seeing how God will open doors for relationships, discipleship, and practical ministry throughout the school year.
Juvenile Centre for Boys and Girl’s Transit Home
Our ministry at the Juvenile Centre for boys has been intermittent during this period because of the renovation work taking place there.
While this has limited our ability to maintain the regular rhythm of ministry at the centre, we are thankful that opportunities to serve young people have continued in other settings.
Our volunteers have continued to engage with the girls at the Transit Home, maintaining relationships and creating opportunities for encouragement, conversation, activities, and spiritual investment.
These interruptions remind us that ministry does not always happen according to the schedule we would like. We are learning to remain available and faithful, looking for the opportunities God provides even when circumstances change.
We continue to pray for the obstacle at the Centre and for the opportunity to resume more regular ministry there when circumstances allow.
LOOKING AHEAD
As we enter the final months of the year, we are returning to a more regular rhythm of ministry following the Summer Mission Adventure and our month away.
The past season has reminded us of the importance of both serving faithfully and taking time to rest and reassess. We are thankful for what God has allowed us to accomplish, but we are also looking ahead and asking Him for wisdom concerning the next season.
With the new school year underway, School Ministry has resumed, Kids Club continues, and we remain engaged with young people through the Transit Home. We are also preparing for the next module of the Children at Risk Seminar and continuing our Inductive Bible Study journey.
Our desire remains to invest in children and young people, strengthen families, develop leaders, and create opportunities for people to encounter Jesus and participate in His mission. We are grateful for
Shamus and
Sherry back on Island who will be re-activating the family ministry that have been dormant for over 5 years since the last Mariage tune Up Workshop organized at the YWAM Saint Lucia campus .
Children at Risk Seminar
Looking ahead, we will resume the coordination and facilitation of Module 3 of the Children at Risk Seminar in October.
This training is part of our desire to equip people to better understand and respond to the needs of children and young people, particularly those who are vulnerable or at risk.
We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute not only through direct ministry to children and young people but also by helping equip others who are involved in serving them.
Please pray for wisdom as we prepare for this next module and for everyone who will participate.
