Trusting God to Move Forward

Mar 29, 2023

Dear Friends,

A quarter of the year gone so far

We started the Year with the image that no obstacle should be able to stop us in our journey with God. Interestingly as it can be, it is not the obstacles that stop some of us from moving in God's plan and destiny, also we should also remember that a multiplication of blessings or opportunities could also halt or distract us in our progress where obstacle were unable to. The story of the descendants of Noah advancing across the earth after being saved from the flood is a typical example. Genesis 11:1–9 . They reached the land of Shinar (probably a very rich and promising Valley) and they decided to settle there to build for themselves and their children a reputation, a name, forgetting the renewed commission reiterated by God in Genesis 9:1.

Whether we are a church an individual or a group we should learn and remember to never forget the mission and the purpose God intended in calling us to existence; we should never allow, be it a very promising opportunity to distract us from God's commission because God's agenda is the only one that is eternal and will remain.

In an era were physical prosperity and opportunities are often perceived as resulting from spiritual connections good or bad. What looks like a sign of God's favor can also and we must remember that also become a distraction leading us out of God's purpose and commission if we are not discerning. This principle can be seen in the history of the people of God in numerous occasions.

MINISTRIES UPDATES

VOLUNTEERS

Ariane helping with Our Kids Club

We praise God for Ariane who after spending a few months with us left as planned to continue her journey With God. Ariane was helping with some office work where her sense for detail was perceptible and helpful.  She also helped with times of  Worship and Intercession in addition to assisting with the various ministries.

We are trusting God for more volunteers .

With an increase in cases of violent crime in Saint Lucia in the past few months, bringing to light the situation of the youth and the children, this ministry that seem at times challenging is attracting some interest. We are thankful that God gave us the grace to see that these young people are to be the focus for a durable change in the society. Unfortunately the  ressources remain a significant obstacle for us.  Pray with us that we will be able to set up a centre that we know can bring some contribution, serving as a half way or transition home with skills training and life coaching/ one on one mentoring and discipleship where some of these boys could be interested after they are discharged from the centre as there is to our knowledge noting to offer them that transition. WATH HAPPEN TO OUR VAN?

We finally decided to sell what was left of our van to hopefully be able with God's favor be able to get a different vehicle for the ministry. The van had an engine problem requiring recurring expenses and we are presently praying to be able to have a vehicle that can help us with the Ministry (mini bus) or as a family.
We are thankful for those of you who have started sowing in the Mini Bus project,  we continue to Trust God for complete provision of the many thousand still needed;  feel free to sow in this project.

We were able to take a one week break in Guadeloupe as a family during which we had the opportunity to share at a youth workshop on evangelism. A great thanks to the friends who invited and welcome us making the trip possible.

We are also grateful to those of  who donated for the bicycle that Guy can now use with  Asaph to  move around the neighborhood. There was a small one that a neighbor gave to Asaph a few month before that Guy was able to repair.   Presently even the kids from our kids club are often looking forward to when they can have a ride on the bike in the yard (see photos).

PRAISE REPORT

  • We are thankful for the grace of God, His protection and health so far in the year 2023.

  • for Ariane and the time spent with us

  • We praise God for the sale of the van providing some ressources from its residual value.

  • We were able to hold our 1st term board meeting for 2023 earlier in March with a new board member joining.

  • Praise to God and thanks for the new bicycle that we got that allows Guy and Asaph to be more active in the neighborhood.

PRAYER POINTS:

Please pray with us:

- We continue to trust God for a mini bus now that we have none; the funds available from the sale of the previous van and donations received remain insufficient at this point for another vehicle in better condition.

- the summer program : this year in absence of enough volunteers or staff we are considering  to assist or give some hands to the youth missions training camp that a partner organization; PAWIMA, will be holding in Saint Lucia, therefore postponing the YWAM SL Summer Camp for later.   please pray for this camp as it will be aiming at challenging young people to missions.

- a property for the Base: we continue to trust God for the provision of a property for YWAM or a well suited accessible stand alone house for rent with a space for activities for kids, the present rented location conditions has changed.
